David’s Angels (Destiny Helpers)

David’s war successes were not only due to his solo efforts nor were they completely as a result of his prowess. He had with him three great warriors who gave their all in all towards supporting him in his war campaigns. Who were they?

Divine Helper
  1. Jashobeam: The leader of the three. He was of the tribe of Hacono. It is recorded in 2 Samuel 23 vs 8 that he once used his spear to kill 800 enemy warrior in a single battle.
  2. Eleazar: The Second in command. He is the Son of Dodai of the tribe of Ahoah. He once stood by David alone against the Philistines when the entire army of Israel fled. It is recorded in verse 9 that he killed so many philistines until he became too tired.
  3. Shammah: Son of Agee from the tribe of Harar. He was the third in command. It is recorded that he once stood against enemy alone at the center of the field and beat them back.

These three were so great and loyal that they once broke through the enemy line just to fetch drinking water for David. They gave their all to see that David succeeded.

Jesus and his twelve

Just like David, Jesus enjoyed the loyalty of his first disciples. They were with him most of the time ensuring the crowd did not get too close to him. They accepted his teaching and followed his footstep even to death. These were brave men who executed the great commission.

God understands that without destiny helpers it would be difficult to execute his instructions 100% in a chaotic world like this. Moses, Joshua, Gideon, and the others all had helps without which they could do nothing. These helpers were all there when they were needed most.

Dear Messengers, May heaven provide for you your destiny helpers when you need them most.

The Vision and The Instruction

Because God is not an author of confusion when he establishes a channel of communication through a human being he ensures there are set instructions on what the individual must do. Divine instructions are tools with which the messengers navigates the purpose.

There are a handful of individuals who after receiving their calls where given instructions on what to do by God.

MOSES

Moses’s calling was a difficult and confusing one. First a very violent scene was arranged to show him a picture of the fate of his people in Israel. Then he committed murder out of anger because he couldn’t stand the oppression meted on his brother. That crime got him exiled and stranded in thethe wilderness. Things got really tough until the set time when God appeared to him. There are then his instruction was clearly stated and moved with it. The instruction made the burden easier and lighter.

JOSEPH

For Joseph it was a tough one. In a dream it was revealed to him what Path Heaven has drafted for him. But that was just the beginning. Trouble followed afterwards. From one hell to another Joseph spent most of his time wondering if what he saw was only a dream. His suffering and temptations continued until the set time for his uplifting. That was when he realized what the dream was about. It was only an insight into what God has in store for his destiny.

These two patriarchs of faith only had their calling finally revealed to them in full after undergoing serious exhausting stages. They were refined by the horror they faced initially. This preparatory phase is still today as relevant and applicable as it was then.

Keep faith in the storm. It may get tougher than you expected but it is for your good. At the end glory awaits.

The Psalms of David: His Prophesies

David was much more than just a King. He was a Prophet. He had the gift of revelation too and did speak often concerning the future and especially of Jesus Christ his descendant by birth. Here are some Prophetic Psalms of his:

Psalm 22 – Prophesy about the Agony of Christ

In this Psalm, David made a projection about Christ’s situation during his time on earth. This was hundreds of years before his birth. He may have spoken of him like one who the Spirit of God arrested at the time he wrote the Psalm. Jesus would cry out with the exact words as David did in verse 1 of Psalm 22.

Psalm 16 – Prophesy about Christ’s Resurrection

In this Psalm, David prayed a prophetic prayer about the resurrection of Christ. The Holy Spirit opened his eyes to what would eventually be the fate of the Savior, with an assurance that God will never leave his beloved to rot in the grave.

In Psalms 2 & 110 David spoke more concerning Christ Jesus especially his agony before and while on the cross. Within David’s Psalm especially those chapters authored by him lies words of prophesies that even today continues to speak into our lives and situations.

Pray daily with the Psalms of David

The Psalms of David: His Teachings..

Towards the end of his time on earth, King David called his son Solomon aside and gave him one of the greatest lecture a Father could give his Son. This was divinely preserved for a time like this and can be found in 1 Kings 2. But this was only one out of the many number of times he had to put this special gift into use. Indeed King David was a great teacher.

David was as well generous enough to leave behind notes of his teachings and prayers which today we call The Psalms of David.

In today’s episode let us look at some of his teachings as recorded in The Psalms.
Psalm 1 – Teaching on Consistent Loyalty to God
Here he reminds the reader that there is a special reward that comes with obedience and righteousness. Constantly studying the word of God pays off.

Psalm 14 – Teaching on God’s Supremacy

It is foolishness to question God’s existence. God dwells on high from where he judges all things.
In this Chapter like in some others, David reiterates the goodness of God

Psalm 15 – Teaching on God’s Benevolence

The Psalmist here describes God as one who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent.God keeps his oath even though he doesn’t have to.

Psalm 91 – Teaching on God’s Divine Protection

The Psalmist here describes God as a reliable defender and protector of those who run to and into him. David for one enjoyed this benefit so spoke out of experience. This is promise towards every one that run to him.
